Choosing the Right Lash Adhesive: What You Need to Know

What To Look For In The Best Lash Extension Adhesive
Ingredients
What’s the thing that makes or breaks a good lash glue? The ingredients. ‘Nuff said.
One common ingredient in cheaper lash glue is formaldehyde. That, ethylhexyl acrylate, and latex are frequently added in formulations. These also happen to be irritants. While it’s not possible to completely remove all these ingredients to make a lash glue, it’s possible to skip some of them.
Take this LASH DIVA GLUE. It doesn’t have any formaldehyde as that’s commonly known as an irritant! Its ingredients include acrylates, ethylhexyl acrobat, copolymer, and water. That’s it! The first few ingredients, scary as they may sound, are actually deemed safe to use on the skin - this is especially true in small concentrations.
Now let’s take a deeper look into acrylates. Just earlier, we mentioned that this ingredient can be an irritant. It’s worth noting that acrylates or ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer is widely used in hair and skin care formulations for its binding properties and it is (again) totally safe in lower concentrations.
That being said, not all people have the same skin. Though the LASH DIVA GLUE is 100% vegan and formulated for sensitive skin, you can still do skin testing first before using them on your lashes.
Glue Strength
What’s the use of glue if it doesn’t stick? Believe it or not, glue strength varies. Some lash glue can be removed with simple soap and water, but some bind stronger than others, meaning that you need to pair your glue with a lash glue remover.
That also means that you shouldn’t go yanking off your lashes when you want them off. My goodness, your natural lashes will certainly suffer! Use a lash glue remover and gently peel off your falsies, preferably using sturdy tweezers.
Once you’ve removed the lashes, make sure to go back in and clean the area with a little soap and water. You’d be surprised how much residue can get left behind if you don’t. If you’ve got a heavier hand, maybe use some swabs to clean the areas around your eye.
Viscosity
Some lash glues are thick while some are more watery. Certain lashes will bind better with particular glues while some will generally will bind with whatever you can get. All there is to pay attention to is how you can apply the lash adhesive. More often than not, your glue will come with an applicator. This makes applying it so much easier.
A heavier lash might need a sturdier, thicker glue. You might also need to go in more times and reapply glue to make sure they bind the right way. If you’re just applying a simple, daily lash, you can just use good quality lash glues like the ones you find here.
Drying Time
You need to be a little patient when applying your false lashes. We haven’t encountered a lash glue that simply sticks lashes immediately…yet. You need to give it a few seconds to set! Remember, a heavier lash needs more time and probably more glue to really hang on. A lighter lash won’t require as much, but make sure it’s set before letting go.
A good lash glue will set without the need for blowing or fans. Anything that helps speed up the process is just that - a way to help set your glue faster. You don’t really NEED them, but use them if you’ve got them.
Careful Around Your Eye…Lashes!
We’d like to leave you with a little pro tip. Lash glues are meant to go on your falsies or your skin. If any gets into your eyes, rinse immediately! Even the safest and best lash adhesives aren’t meant to go inside your eyes. After washing it off the best you can, give it a few minutes and observe for any possible irritations.
